Off course we understand you don’t have all the time in the world so we invest as much time as possible for you to waste as less as possible.

Papermodels are easy to make. You only need a precisionknive (or scalpel), a brush, the lid of any jar, craft-glue, a ruler, a cuttingmat and the PDF. Remember, our kits are NOT designed especially for kids, but they can try cutting out the models with a pair of scissors.

StepByStep
First print out the PDF on your computer and start cutting out all the shapes with the scalpel on the mat along the line line. If the model consists of seperate elements, they are divided into sections box. It’s easier to keep them seperated.

When you have done that, start preparing the folding-line by tracing them with the back of the scalpel on the mat (kids: ballpoint). This way, called ‘creasing’, will make your foldings sharp and precise. Test it yourself by folding up all the shapes. Keep in mind the hillfold hillfolds and the valleyfold valleyfolds.

Now, the most rewarding phase: glue-ing! It’s difficult to say wich kind of glue to use, but we tested a lot of different types and eventually stick to simple paper/craft-glue or wood-glue thinned with a bit of water (in the jar-lid). Don’t work with too watery glue, since it’s a waste of all the cutting and creasing if your newborn kit would look all curved, orange-peeled or pinched! After this, you can shut down your brain. Just glue from number 1 up and watch the paper ...come to live!

We at the 3-EyedBear coördination-center take our craft seriously. It means that we test every paperkit untill it meets our high standards. We understand you papercutters and -folders out there very well, because we have blisters on our hands by building the kits ourselves. Therefor we created internal guidelines for the engineers to follow. Our golden rules are:

  • always use custom A4 paper-size for the models.
  • Take the paperkit-community seriously. No dumb kit or too complicated kit should reach the surface.
  • a good kit should be do-able in about one hour maximum. Paperkit-people have more stuff on their mind and download a new one if not.
  • Be sure the model is complete. Within the kit the specific manual should be attached.
  • Be convinced the model uses as less expensive printer-cartridge-ink as possible
  • Be aware that most printers do not print the whole A4-surface. The blanco edge should be at least 1 cm.

If there are more suggestions to improve our models quality, please contact us!
