Maneki Neko the Lucky Cat

TAGS: None

There are a few legends around the Maneki Neko. She (or maybe a he) supposedly saved some rich guy’s life long long ago by waving him to go away from under a tree that got hit by lightning. Also there’s a story about a beheaded cat that brought the grieving owner luck after being reincarnated into a wooden statue or appearing in a poor woman’s dream with a good business-proposal.
Point is, since the 17th century this cat brings Luck, Health, Wealth and Love, so we felt the need to repay his duties by recreating him in the purest and delicate canvas of all: paper. May Maneki Neko keep on being our beloved good luck charm and live his paper-life in good health, prosperity and full of love himself. It’s the least we can do.

We have four Maneki Neko’s to choose from:
-Gold, for  Wealth
-Pink, for Love!
-White, for Prosperity
-Black, against all bad luck

Good luck everybody! Feel free to fill the commentbox with your good wishes for the world, or background information about Maneki Neko that can help us improve the kits  :)

Thank you for providing smaller Maneki Neko paper models. I have assembled the Canon Creative Park’s version which is huge. Having these smaller figures would be a great way for us to give these as presents on Chinese Lunar Year…

I do not think I can help you improve because the kitties are so sweet now. I just thank you for sharing with all of us and wanted to say I plan to make these as a Christmas gift. I think my friend will fall in love with them. Thanks again. Alisa

Thanks for letting us know where the download links are. I have sight issues, and even with my monitor set to show text larger than it would normally be, I still couldn’t find them without your help. I love these little cats, they are so welcome in my house.

    Thank you so much!
(also from all my kids in class! ( we are from The Netherlands)
one of my students (elementary school) asked if it is possible to make a treatbox from it?
So he/she can give it to someone as a gift, with a little selfmade thing in it :-)
Maybe that is a great idea?

Best regards and keep this great (Artpaper) work going please!

Coming late to the party, here, but wanted to thank you for these adorable patterns (Howie the owl and siblings, as well). You are so generous to share with us all. Totally agree with you about paper being the purest of all forms :-)
